Client Case Study: Bright Winter Lydia
Meet Lydia, our gorgeous ColorKit™: Digital Edition client! At first glance, Lydia’s bright eyes and fair skin may make one assume she’s a light season: Spring or Summer. She is a perfect example of this essential fact: never jump to conclusions!
In my experience as an analyst, when I see a client with Lydia’s coloring, who looks equally good in Spring and Summer colors, I’ve learned to always check Winter. The brightness of Spring will suit her, and the coolness of Summer will suit her - often meaning her best colors might be bright AND cool (Winter). If Winter is obviously not the answer (which would be the case if she were a light season), I can then go back and compare more closely between Light Spring and Light Summer to determine her season.
In Lydia’s case, when we give Winter a closer look, the clouds parted and everything clicked into place. Let Lydia be the proof that Winters don’t have a “look”!
Scroll on to see EXACTLY what we saw in her analysis. Remember, never draw conclusions based on a single color. Proper color analysis identifies complexion patterns and season correlations through repeated, systematic comparisons:
Throughout every image set, Spring infiltrates her complexion (though the brightness is nice), Summer is too pale and weak, Autumn is mostly too bland or muddy. Not only does that reveal Winter through the process of elimination, but we can see that Winter is consistently the most exciting and cohesive on her.
When I see a Winter who can handle some mid-tones and lightness (like Medium Violet), with a low tolerance for moody colors like Aubergine, we can form a hypothesis that she is a Bright Winter.
This is when we take a look at the lightest, brightest colors in Winter and check for a WOW factor. Here is Lydia in a few of the Bright Winter colors:
Enough said. Her inner spotlight is switched ALL THE WAY on, with no shadowing, texture emphasis, or division in the complexion.
Bright Winters are Winters through and through (not part-Springs!), and shine in any combination of Winter colors they choose. The magic of the Bright Winter colors comes into play when Lydia chooses them for a high-impact, solid-colored piece such as an evening gown, jumpsuit, winter coat, or matching workout set. These are her one-and-done colors that will serve her with undying devotion for life.
